The main component  in Cozac is Fluoxetine. It used to treat symptoms like depression (including depression among children), bulimia nervosa, obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety, panic disorder, etc. Cozac belongs to the SSRI (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor) class. Cozac works by affecting the chemicals in the brain. It is widely used to treat the above-mentioned symptoms although newer drugs with more or less the same composition have been launched. 

Cozac is widely used by doctors and pharmacists as an anti-depressant. It is used to treat the following symptoms: major depression in both adults as well as children, obsessive compulsive disorder, premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), bulimia nervosa, anxiety, panic attacks

Cozac should not be taken without the advice and recommendation of a physician. It is advisable to take the medicine as per the doctor’s prescriptions. Cozac should be swallowed with sufficient amount of water and should not be chewed or bit.

It normally takes about four weeks for the drug to start showing its effects. In case you feel unwell or face any adverse effects after taking Cozac, inform your doctor at once. Do not discontinue the use of Cozac without seeking your doctor’s permission.

Cozac has the following side effects: allergic reactions like swelling up of the face, mouth, tongue or lips, skin rash, difficulty in breathing normally. Behavioral changes - mood swings, panic attacks, anxiety, suicidal tendencies or thoughts, depression, hyperactivity, agitation, etc. Severe blisters and peeling of the skin, vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, loss of appetite, decrease in sex drive, trouble in achieving an orgasm, impotence.

Cozac should be stored away from heat and moisture, at room temperature and should be kept away from the reach of children and pets.
